STAGE RIGHT of Texas, resident theatre company at the historic Crighton Theatre in downtown Conroe, announces auditions for the final show of their 2009-2010 season; ANNIE. The show will run July 23 – Aug. 8 with Friday and Saturday performances at 8 pm and two Sunday matinees on Aug. 1 & 8 at 2 pm. The show will be directed by Tina Cafeo. A large cast of children (both boys and girls), teens and adults are needed to fill many speaking and chorus roles. All roles are open; no role has been pre-cast. As many as 40 ‘orphans’ will be cast. The role of Annie will be double cast. The role of Sandy will be played by a dog from the Montgomery County Animal Shelter and, like Annie, is a candidate for adoption into a forever home.
Auditions will take place at the historic Crighton Theatre at 234 N. Main Street in downtown Conroe on Sunday May 23 and Monday May 24. Children under age 16 are asked to come on Sunday between 4 and 7 pm. Teens and adults will be seen Sunday from 7 to 10 pm. Monday night auditions will be both kids and adults and run from 7 to 10 pm. Call backs, if needed, will be held Tuesday May 25 at 7 pm. This is an open call; no audition appointments are needed. Please bring a headshot or current picture and resume if you have one, if not a picture will be taken and attached to your audition form. Those auditioning for lead roles are asked to prepare a song along with instrumental CD or sheet music (an accompanist will be provided). Those auditioning for chorus roles may sing along to a CD with vocals. All are asked to be dressed to move as they will be shown a dance combination. Auditions will also include cold readings from the script. Rehearsals will begin Sunday June 6. The rehearsal schedule includes Sundays from 6 to 10 pm and Monday through Thursday evenings from 7 to 10 pm.
