A Christmas Story (2013) - Auditions

STAGE RIGHT of Texas announces auditions for their upcoming production of A CHRISTMAS STORY. Director Melody Montez is looking for both cast and crew for the show.

The cast requirements are for two men (ages 40 and older), two women (ages 35 and older), three boys (ages 9-12), one boy (age 5-7), and two girls (ages 9-12). Other children ages 5-12 and adults may be cast for various non-speaking roles. Actor call times will be staggered with children rehearsing first and released early on school nights. Note that the role of Ralphie Parker has been precast.

Auditions will be held at the Crighton Theatre on Sept. 8-9 at 7 pm. Callback auditions may be held at the discretion of the director. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Contact the director at info@crighton-theatre.com for questions about the auditions, the show or to volunteer to help backstage.

Christmas is a time of great expectations, especially through the eyes of a child. For nine-year-old Ralphie Parker that great expectation is a genuine Red Ryder 200 Shot Carbine Action Air Rifle. No self-respecting cowboy would be without one. Unfortunately, his mom, teacher and even the Santa Claus toiling away at Goldblatt's Department Store share the same reaction to his Christmas wish: "You'll shoot your eye out!" Based on the book by humorist Jean Shepherd and adapted for the stage by Philip Grecian the play has all the scenes you’ve come to love in the movie; the flagpole, the bunny suit, and the infamous lamp! A CHRISTMAS STORY will delight the whole family and fill you with the spirit of the season.

Show dates are Dec. 6-22 with Friday & Saturday performances at 8 pm and three Sunday matinees at 2 pm. Performances will be held at the historic Crighton Theatre at 234 N. Main in downtown Conroe.
