Audition Call for Miracle on 34th Street

STAGE RIGHT of Texas, resident theatre company at the historic Crighton Theatre, announces auditions for Christmas classic MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET on October 9-10 at 7pm. The show will be directed by Dinah Mahlman.

Based on the 1947 motion picture, Miracle on 34th Street tells the story of a gentleman by the name Kris Kringle who by chance gets a job working as Santa for Macy’s. Kris unleashes waves of goodwill with Macy’s customers and the commercial world of New York City by referring parents to other stores to find exactly the toy their child has asked for. Seen as deluded and dangerous by Macy’s vocational counselor, who plots to have Kris shanghaied to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital, Kris ends up in a court competency hearing. Especially at stake is one little girl’s belief in Santa. In a dramatic decision, the court confirms Kris as the true Santa, allowing Susan and countless other children to experience the joy of childhood fantasy.

Auditions will be held at the Crighton Theatre at 234 N. Main St. in downtown Conroe on October 9 & 10 at 7pm. Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script. All ages and ethnicities are welcome.

The show will feature a small ensemble of Christmas Carolers. If you are interested in being considered for this group, please bring prepare one minute of your favorite Christmas carol (one verse and the chorus is sufficient). Bring your own accompaniment on a CD or device.

Please bring your calendars so any conflicts between October 11 and December 18 can be noted. A headshot and resume are helpful but not required. Contact the director at dmahlman5@hotmail.com for questions about the auditions, the show or to help backstage.
