Mary PoppinsMusic and Lyrics by Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman
Book by Julian Fellowes
New Songs by Anthony Drewe and George Stiles
Co-created by Cameron Mackintosh
Performances: July 7-23, 2017
Auditions: April 23-24, 2017 at 7 PM

One of the most popular Disney movies of all time is capturing hearts in a whole new way: as a practically perfect musical!
The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones she has a profound effect upon. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that "Anything can happen if you let it."
July 7-23, 2017; $15-$22

Audition Call for My Fair Lady

STAGE RIGHT of Texas, resident theatre company at the historic Crighton Theatre, announces auditions for classic musical My Fair Lady. Auditions will be held on Sunday, Oct 23, and Monday, Oct. 24, 2016 from 7-9 PM. Bring a song on a phone or mp3 player and be prepared to sing, dance, and read from the script.

In this beloved musical, pompous phonetics professor Henry Higgins is so sure of his abilities that he takes it upon himself to transform a Cockney working-class girl into someone who can pass for a cultured member of high society. His subject turns out to be the lovely Eliza Doolittle, who agrees to speech lessons to improve her job prospects. Higgins and Eliza clash, then form an unlikely bond -- one that is threatened by an aristocratic suitor.

Audition Call for Miracle on 34th Street

STAGE RIGHT of Texas, resident theatre company at the historic Crighton Theatre, announces auditions for Christmas classic MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET on October 9-10 at 7pm. The show will be directed by Dinah Mahlman.

Based on the 1947 motion picture, Miracle on 34th Street tells the story of a gentleman by the name Kris Kringle who by chance gets a job working as Santa for Macy’s. Kris unleashes waves of goodwill with Macy’s customers and the commercial world of New York City by referring parents to other stores to find exactly the toy their child has asked for. Seen as deluded and dangerous by Macy’s vocational counselor, who plots to have Kris shanghaied to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital, Kris ends up in a court competency hearing. Especially at stake is one little girl’s belief in Santa. In a dramatic decision, the court confirms Kris as the true Santa, allowing Susan and countless other children to experience the joy of childhood fantasy.

Auditions will be held at the Crighton Theatre at 234 N. Main St. in downtown Conroe on October 9 & 10 at 7pm. Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script. All ages and ethnicities are welcome.

The show will feature a small ensemble of Christmas Carolers. If you are interested in being considered for this group, please bring prepare one minute of your favorite Christmas carol (one verse and the chorus is sufficient). Bring your own accompaniment on a CD or device.

Please bring your calendars so any conflicts between October 11 and December 18 can be noted. A headshot and resume are helpful but not required. Contact the director at dmahlman5@hotmail.com for questions about the auditions, the show or to help backstage.

Show dates are December 2-18 with Friday and Saturday performances at 8pm and Sunday matiness at 2pm. Performances will be held at the Crighton Theatre. Tickets can be obtained by calling the Crighton Theatre box office at 936-441-SHOW (7469) or online at www.stage-right.org.

Opening Weekend for Blithe Spirit

Over 300 patrons laughed their way through Noel Coward's best known comedy Blithe Spirit. Opening night patrons were offered tasty treats themed to match the other worldly comedy. The cast includes both actors that have graced the stage of the historic Crighton for many years and newcomers to the Montgomery County area. To get a glimpse of the spooky set see the production photos thanks to Dave Clements of DWC Photography.

See the promotional video for the show and get your tickets today!

41 Dogs with New Homes

If anyone thinks that you "just do theatre", think again. Thanks to the collaboration of three non-profits - Operation Pets Alive, Cloud Nine Rescue, and the 3700+ patrons who came to see Legally Blonde the Musical - Stage Right was able to fund a flight to take 41 dogs to new homes. Without this funding no flight this month would have left Conroe. See the youtube video that celebrates this achievement. What we can do together is amazing!

Stage Right on the Road Auditions

STAGE RIGHT of Texas, resident theatre company at the historic Crighton Theatre in downtown Conroe, announces a second round of auditions for a repertory troupe for community outreach work. We seek performers of all ages (6+) to perform at senior centers, rehabilitation facilities, outdoor festivals, parades, and other promotional events. Classes will be held on Wednesday and Thursday during the school year from 5 – 6:30 pm. Emphasis will be on vocal technique, acting, improv, musical theatre dance and technical theatre – you’ll learn how to think fast on your feet!. Tuition will be $100/month with a production fee to be assessed later in the semester if needed.

Why now? We have a commitment to reach out to Montgomery County residents who cannot come to the Crighton. We aim to provide entertainment to those that can’t make it to the theatre and to provide advanced training to area youth and adults to help them sharpen and enhance their performance skills.

Auditions are on Sept 22, 2016 at 5 PM at the Crighton Theatre. Everyone should pick a song that showcases their voice and theatrical talents. The song should be about 1 min to 1:30 in length. Note: You do not have to start at the beginning of a song; you may start in the middle but please have the music ready at that part in which you would like to begin. Everyone will learn a short dance combination as well at these auditions. We want to see how fast the auditioner is able to pick up choreography and perform it within a short amount of time. We are not expecting perfection or a show-ready performance. Everyone will also go thru a quick improv game as well at the audition. We want to see how quickly you think on your feet and if able to portray a character without being handed a script.

Contact Sara Preisler for more information.

Auditions and classes will be held at the historic Crighton Theatre at 234 N. Main in downtown Conroe. More information about STAGE RIGHT can be found on our website..

Last Weekend for Legally Blonde

Over 3700 people came to see Legally Blonde. This makes it the third highest attended show after Shrek the Musical and Singin' in the Rain. Even better, we were able to raise over $4500 dollars for Operation Pets Alive. Stage Right will get their own flight for life!

After the show the cast sang (what else) to video karaoke with the biggest "TV" around - the 24 foot screen on the stage of the Crighton theatre. While the cast is going many separate ways, they made this a summer to remember. Now on to the 2016-2017 season of Fantasy!
