Love Letters

By: A.R Gurney
Performances: Feb. 13 - 28, 2009

On the heels of their critically praised production of “Christmas Belles”, STAGE RIGHT, Montgomery County's newest theatre company, is pleased to announce their upcoming production of “Love Letters.”

A.R. Gurney's Pulitzer Prize nominated play centers on two characters from the privileged class; Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III. Their correspondence from a lifetime spent apart is brought vividly to life in this funny and poignant play. In their letters they discuss their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats. This piece is a performance favorite of famous actor couples. Some notables that have performed it in the past include Charlton Heston and Jean Simmons, Colleen Dewhurst and Jason Robards, and most recently Sigourney Weaver and Jeff Daniels as a benefit for Daniel's Purple Rose Theatre Company. The STAGE RIGHT production features a couple that have worked together previously on the Crighton stage. Allen Dorris and Catherine Anderson performed together as Stanley and Stella in a production of Tennessee William's “A Streetcar Named Desire”.

STAGE RIGHT has decided to stage the play in a very different way than is normally done where the two performers merely sit at a table and read the letters. A beautiful set, music of the period, movement, special lighting effects and superior acting have created a production not to be missed.

“Love Letters” will have the following performance schedule:

  • Feb. 13 - 28, 2009
  • Friday & Saturday performances at 8 pm
  • Sunday matinees on Feb. 15 & 22 at 2 pm
  • Ticket price: $17 for adults and $12 for students
  • For tickets call: 936-441-SHOW

All performances will be held at the historic Crighton Theatre in downtown Conroe located at 234 Main Street.

We are pleased to offer a Sweetheart Deal to couples married 25+ years, a pair of tickets will only cost $30. This show is a beautiful love story not recommended for youth, but definitely for the young at heart.

Please bring a Valentine to others; STAGE RIGHT will be collecting food items to be donated to the Montgomery County Food Bank during the run of LOVE LETTERS.
