Over 300 patrons laughed their way through Noel Coward's best known comedy Blithe Spirit. Opening night patrons were offered tasty treats themed to match the other worldly comedy. The cast includes both actors that have graced the stage of the historic Crighton for many years and newcomers to the Montgomery County area. To get a glimpse of the spooky set see the production photos thanks to Dave Clements of DWC Photography.
STAGE RIGHT of Texas, resident theatre company at the historic Crighton Theatre in downtown Conroe, announces a second round of auditions for a repertory troupe for community outreach work. We seek performers of all ages (6+) to perform at senior centers, rehabilitation facilities, outdoor festivals, parades, and other promotional events. Classes will be held on Wednesday and Thursday during the school year from 5 – 6:30 pm. Emphasis will be on vocal technique, acting, improv, musical theatre dance and technical theatre – you’ll learn how to think fast on your feet!. Tuition will be $100/month with a production fee to be assessed later in the semester if needed.
Why now? We have a commitment to reach out to Montgomery County residents who cannot come to the Crighton. We aim to provide entertainment to those that can’t make it to the theatre and to provide advanced training to area youth and adults to help them sharpen and enhance their performance skills.
Auditions are on Sept 22, 2016 at 5 PM at the Crighton Theatre. Everyone should pick a song that showcases their voice and theatrical talents. The song should be about 1 min to 1:30 in length. Note: You do not have to start at the beginning of a song; you may start in the middle but please have the music ready at that part in which you would like to begin. Everyone will learn a short dance combination as well at these auditions. We want to see how fast the auditioner is able to pick up choreography and perform it within a short amount of time. We are not expecting perfection or a show-ready performance. Everyone will also go thru a quick improv game as well at the audition. We want to see how quickly you think on your feet and if able to portray a character without being handed a script.

The non-stop hilarity of this Southern-fried farce highlights one day in the life of the Wilburn family of Mayhew, Arkansas. Meet D. Gene Wilburn, the owner and proprietor of The Reel 'Em Inn, the finest little fishing lodge in the Ozarks. Well, it used to be, but lately business is down, tourists are few, and the lone guest who's just checked in - an extremely jittery Carmine DeLuca from Chicago - is only there due to a location shift in the Witness Protection Program. Doesn't anybody just want to fish anymore? Certainly not D. Gene's frustrated wife, Wanelle, who's fed up with their lackluster romantic life. She's taken drastic steps to improve it through hypnotic suggestion and for the life of him, D. Gene cannot understand why his pants keep falling down. D. Gene's feisty sister, Maxie, has her own problems, chief among them battling ageism to resume her career in law enforcement. She' s determined to prove her worth by keeping Carmine DeLuca alive through the weekend - a task that's going to prove to be much harder than she bargained for since she keeps losing both her gun and the bullets. And she never anticipated the gangster Camine's been dodging for the last five years, Sonny Barbosa, is about to walk through the door, in hot pursuit of his sexy wife, Lola. Seems the headstong Lola has driven hundreds of miles to the lodge to follow her boytoy, D. Gene and Wanelle's son, Ty. But Lola meets her match in Ty's seemingly innocent girlfriend, Jenna, whose patience has reached the breaking point after months of waiting for Ty to come home.
In the deliciously funny romp that ensues, they all hide, lie, disguise themselves, cross-dress, and slam doors chasing one another while trying to figure out the source of an increasingly awful stench. By then it's too late and the lodge is surrounded by vicious critters and hungry varmints that have followed the odor down from the hills. Yet by the delightfully chaotic climax of this one outrageous day, love blossoms, truths are revealed and the lives of all - family, guests, and gangsters alike - change in incredible and surprising ways. This side-splittingly funny Jones Hope Wooten comedy is guaranteed to win your audiences over, hook, line, and sinker!

The smash comedy hit of the London and Broadway stages, this much-revived classic from the playwright of Private Lives offers up fussy, cantakerous novelist Charles Condomine, re-married but haunted (literally) by the ghost of his late first wife, the clever and insistent Elvira who is called up by a visiting "happy medium", one Madame Arcati. As the (worldly and un-) personalities clash, Charles' current wife Ruth is accidentally killed, "passes over", joins Elvira and the two "blithe spirits" haunt the hapless Charles into perpetuity.
