Characters with stage ages listed
Felix Ducotel (M, 40–55) – Kindly but foolish manager of the general store on the verge of bankruptcy caused by over-extension of credit and his inability to keep accurate records and inventories, and whose unassuming manner makes him a poor salesman. He is a thoroughly amiable but impractical soul, ethical to a fault.

Emilie Ducotel (W, 40-55) – An energetic and practical woman, anxious over the failing business, troubled by her daughter’s failed love match, and uneasy with her house being taken over by felons. She is patient with her husband because she loves him. She is a good woman.

Marie Louise (W, 20-ish) – Ducotels’ daughter. A sweet, naïve and romantic young woman, adored by her parents, bereft when she learns that the man she loves is engaged to someone else.

Joseph (M, 40-55) - Sentenced to Devil’s Island for theft, forgery and extortion. A suave con-artist with a certain charm and finesse, he is crafty, unscrupulous, perceptive, and sharp as a razor.

Jules (M, 40-55) – Sentenced for murdering his faithless wife, he is soulful, sincere, introspective, humorous with a certain deft grace and refinement. He accepts his life sentence philosophically.

Alfred (M, 25-35) – An ex-playboy who murdered for money. One moment a little dark and moody, the next moment light and charming, he is a rogue and a scoundrel who shows little or not regret for his crime. He seems free from care, yet there is something unpredictable about him. An intriguing character.

Henri Trochard (M, 40-65) – Felix’s cousin and absentee owner of the shop. He is a hard-hearted Scrooge, rude, arrogant, driven by greed to squeeze every last cent he can from the failing business.

Paul (M, 20-35) – Henri Trochard’s nephew and protégé. A snobbish, conceited and arrogant yes-man, completely under his uncle’s thumb. He has also jilted Marie Louise for a wealthy heiress in Paris.

Lieutenant (M, 20-30) – Handsome young naval lieutenant. A small, but crucial role.

The Miracle Worker - Auditions

STAGE RIGHT announces auditions for The Miracle Worker on July 15-16, 2012 at 7 PM at the historic Crighton Theatre.

Characters
Blind, deaf and mute, HELEN KELLER is a little girl with limited outlets for communication with the outside world. Cute as a button and clever like a fox, she’s got her entire family wrapped around her spoiled little finger.

Though a concerned and caring mother, KATE KELLER is near the end of her rope in caring for Helen. Often more concerned with appeasing Helen than attempting to teach her, Kate only reinforces a foul temperament in her daughter.

CAPTAIN ARTHUR KELLER, a savvy military mind and father to both Helen and James Keller, is more sure on the battlefield than in matters of the heart.

While no one can fully identify with Helen’s unique set of limitations, ANNIE SULLIVAN may come the closest having once been blind herself. She has led a difficult life and she knows what could be in store for Helen if she cannot learn to behave and to communicate with those around her.

Son to the Captain and stepson to Kate, JAMES just can’t seem to fit in with the Keller household. Ridiculed by his father and often subjugated by the rest of the family, James is on his own quest to find how he can break through and reach his family.

A true Southern matron, AUNT EV seems to have an opinion on just about everything.

PERCY and MARTHA are both playmates for Helen and servants for the Keller family.

A mentor for Annie, ANAGNOS serves as the warm, reassuring voice for her when she feels backed into a corner.

A concerned member of the Keller clan, servant VINEY is close to the action.

The DOCTOR will be played by various members of the community.

Barefoot in the Park - Auditions

Auditions will be held for Barefoot in the Park on Dec. 4-5, 2011 at 7 PM at the historic Crighton Theatre.

Character Description
Corie Bratter - a newlywed, married only six days at the beginning of the play. She is
young, pretty, and full of enthusiasm for the future. Impulsive and fun-loving, she considers
herself a doer, not a watcher. Her impetuosity is not shared, at first, by her mother or
husband, and they are aghast when she cheers the crazy antics of Victor, a neighbor. Corie
eventually learns to appreciate dependability and quiet strength.

Paul Bratter - Corie’s husband, a twenty-six-year-old attorney in his first job. Both his dress
and his outlook are very conservative. Extremely proper and dignified, he always knows the
right thing to say. He is levelheaded and practical, and he keeps his emotions in check,
perhaps too much so. After Corie accuses him of lacking playfulness, he shows her that he,
too, is capable of walking barefoot in the park.

Ethel Banks - Corie’s mother. She is in her late forties. Although she is still pretty, she has
fallen out of step with the fashions. She lives alone in West Orange, New Jersey. Consciously
or unconsciously, she has adopted a narrow image of herself as someone with a sensitive
stomach, a bad back, and no need for romance. It takes a wild evening out with Victor for
Ethel to rediscover her carefree and spontaneous self.

Victor Velasco - the Bratters’ upstairs neighbor. Fifty-eight years old, he is a colorful
character. Although capable of looking positively natty in a double-breasted pinstriped suit, he
also wears Japanese kimonos and berets. He is vain, flamboyant, and without shame when it
comes to letting someone else pick up a tab. Married three times, he is a terrific flirt. He is
also a gourmet cook; Paul refers to him as the “Hungarian Duncan Hines.” There are signs
that Victor is beginning to slow down. After an exhilarating evening of his own creation, he
suffers a broken toe and an upset stomach.

Harry Pepper - a telephone repairman. He witnesses, to his mortification, a fight between
Corie and Paul.

Delivery Man – Non-speaking cameo role
